I have been corrected. Locals call this a lanch, not a slipway. Please disregard all mention of north and south slipways in my older galleries.  It should have been Gruchy's and Hudson's lanches, named after the town merchants.  I think I have the spelling correct.  I found it in the Newfoundland dictionary.
